Leaving the Comfort of My Office!

Hi All!

On Saturday, February 11th, just in time for Valentines Day, I will be leaving the comfort of my office  to attend a Nook Book Signing with some friends from the Hudson Valley Chapter of Romance Writers of America. The event will take place at the Barnes and Noble in the Pallisades Mall, in West Nyack, New York, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

I’ve never participated in a Nook Book Signing, so I’m interested to see how it works! I’ll have bookmarks – I know…bookmarks at a Nook signing?! But I’d already ordered them… – and pens and chocolates to give away. I hope, if you’re in the area or aren’t too far from the area, you’ll stop by to visit me!

New York is so lucky! It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. I vote for pictures 🙂 If only you were in Australia…

Now I’m off to Google a Nook Book Signing to see how it works!

    Hi Lacey!
    I wish you lived closer!

They tell me for a Nook Book Signing we sign bookmarks or cover flats and give away whatever promo items we have. If people are interested in our books, we’ll have slips of paper with the title and ISBN number to give out and customers can go to a computer to buy the book or buy it at the cash register at which time they’ll be given a link that they can use to download the book after they get home.

It’s the way of the future and I’m happy to be a part of it!

    Thanks for stopping by!

I’m fascinated by this concept. Obviously I can’t be in New York Saturday (long way from Texas) but I can’t wait to here all about how it went. Please give us the full report and good luck!

I wish I lived closer too!

Thanks for explaining, Wendy. It’s such an interesting concept and it’s really incredible to see how books have evolved in just a few short years. I wonder what sort of other signings the future will bring.

Wish I could make it to New York! I just heard my hubby planning a US visit for us for July-Aug! Hope it materializes!

    Nook signings sound good.

    Hi Regina!
For better or worse I share pretty much everything I go through on this journey! I’ll hope to have a post up on Sunday, complete with whether this Nook signing has any impact on my sales ranking for Barnes and Noble…although the impact on ranking may not be realized immediately.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Hi Lacey!
Kindle has advanced to Kindlegraph where you can get an author’s signature for your kindle books online! But…even though I find it stressful and a bit unnerving sitting at a table waiting for people to come talk to me at a book signing (when more pass me by than actually stop) I really do enjoy interacting face to face with readers. So I like the idea of a Nook Book Signing which fosters that face to face interaction.

We definitely rocked. They want us back and that’s the good news. Let your friends know this was the first one Barnes and Noble ever did. Had fun and it was good to see you again.

Hi John! And welcome to my blog!

The Nook Book Signing was fun! I’m not sure how many books I sold, however. Most of the people I spoke with -who were shopping in store- did not own Nooks. So I did a lot of eduction on the Nook, e-readers in general, and the Nook app which allows you to read Nook books on your computer. I think it’s a start!

    Thanks for stopping by!
